JORDANS VILLAGE HALL PROPOSAL 2024
Jordans Village is a community benefit society, and our hall has been a central part of this village community ever since it was built in six weeks in 1919 by the original Quaker residents as a temporary structure. As a result, 105 years later, the building is costly to run and maintain due to poor energy efficiency and high repair costs, and it does not meet the building requirements of a modern community structure.
The hall is widely used by the whole community as well as being home to the Jordans Village Nursery School. However, due to its limited space, during nursery hours or any other prior booking, it cannot be accessed for any other community activity. Regular hall activities include: Suppers, Lunch Club, Jolly Quaker pop-up pub nights, Jordans Picture House, exercise classes, children’s parties, and much more.
After extensive polling of residents and consideration it was agreed that it would be more cost effective and efficient to rebuild the hall as opposed to an extensive refurbishment.
The new Hall will have all the benefits of a design-for-use building having a flexible configuration with movable internal walls to accommodate multiple uses and the diverse needs of a community building. The design of the new Hall will promote energy efficiency measures, low-cost maintenance features and flexible design to maximise usage.
The proposed design was unveiled to the village on 20th April 2024 and a reproduction of that presentation can be watched by clicking the video below.
Detailed information about the project and the fundraising requirements is provided in our Proposal document, which you can download by clicking the button below.
